Kindergarten Graduation...take 1

Bennett graduated kindergarten from Kids' Place and he was so excited.  Both Allyssa and I are very proud of the amount of hard work he put in this year.  He is reading, doing basic math and he has the mind of a scientist.

Mom shed a tear when they had all the kids that had been at Kids' Place since they were babies stand up.

For future record at his kindergarten graduation Bennett stated he wanted to be a chef when he graduated.  Of course, when we got home he told me that was just a front because he was really going to be a secret agent.

April 2013--The month Bennett broke his collarbone...

Lachlan on Thomas the train--he keeps asking us if we can go back to see Thomas.  I wish he was nearby all the time because Lachlan had a blast.
Lachlan at the petting zoo.  He was so gentle.
The boys feeding the koi at the Japanese Garden Spring Festival.
The boys playing the musical instruments outside the Perot Museum in Dallas (you drop rocks and it makes musical notes--this is one of Bennett's favorite places).
Lachlan playing at the water yesterday at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.  We've been visiting a lot of museums because playgrounds aren't safe with Bennett's collarbone.  Unfortunately, "slow down" and "no jumping" are not part of Bennett's vocabulary, no matter how many times we say them, so we have to try to limit his "dangerous" activities.  He still finds things to jump off of, but we refuse to be the ones to blame. ;-)
Bennett giving me his GQ pose because he has started refusing to smile for the camera.  I told him the next time he asked to go to the museum, I'd show him this picture to show him that he didn't really like going to the museum. LOL!  He didn't like that very much.

Spring 2013

Been awhile since I've posted some pics, so thought I would...
The boys in matching sweaters by accident.
 Valentine's Day
Lachlan hunting eggs at an Easter event.
We had a visit from Uncle John and cousin Jonas at Easter.  Here are the boys dying eggs.

Jonas hitting the pinata at Easter.
Bennett and the pinata, and Lachlan below!
At the Stock Show midway...right after Lachlan got lost for a couple minutes because he escaped his stroller and went in the exit of the fun house next door.  So scary.

Winter Fun-Happy New Year!

Took the boys to the zoo today, and they had a blast playing on the telephones and hearing all the information about snakes and crocodiles.  Bennett even touched a red and black snake native to Honduras.  He's very into identifying which snakes are venomous.  Lachlan is a little hesitant about the snakes, but loves to look at the crocodiles.

The boys playing in the leaves that Arty put in a pile...one of the many piles (and don't even get me started on the amount of leaves that were in the backyard).
Lachlan and Bennett playing on the "spiderweb" in Burnett park by my building.
 Decorating Christmas cookies.
Lachlan performing a piano concert with his new piano Christmas morning.  He's very Jerry Lee Lewis with his legs up on the piano!
Bennett and his wild hair showing off a present Christmas morning.
The boys cheesing it up in the bath...a moment of sweetness in the haze of fighting that we normally see.

Typical

A good shot of the boys on any given day enjoying each other's company.  When they aren't fighting, they have so much fun together.

Lachlan being a clown in Mommy's sunglasses.

Daddy and his boys in their Houston Texans duds. And no, mom doesn't take part.

Bennett trying to get his brother to look and smile for the camera. Not helping, son!

First Day of Kindergarten

Bennett started kindergarten at Kids' Place this week.  He missed the cut-off for public kindergarten by 2 days, so he'll have to repeat kindergarten when he transfers into public school next year, but for now, I'm counting this as his first day.  So far he has really enjoyed it.  Usually when I inquire about what he did today, he always responds, "play," and can never really recount anything he learned.  NOT ANYMORE! He told me yesterday all about his math lesson "how far, how much, how long".  Lachlan is not to be outdone and the school is planning on moving him up to the 2 year old class at the beginning of October.

This is a picture I took of the boys playing in the backyard last week.  Bennett is learning to ride his new bike, and Lachlan just likes to wear a helmet in support of Bennett's efforts.  They were digging up weeds and putting them in these buckets in some sort of order that only made sense to them.  I love that they are finally getting to the age that they can play with each other and by themselves for about 5-10 minutes before anyone gets hit, pushed or shoved.

Galveston Vacation 2012

Our summer vacation for 2012 was a trip to Galveston. Before we headed down there, we took Bennett to see the Lion King at Hobby Center, along with Christy and Ashley. On the way to Galveston, we visited Space Center Houston, which Bennett loves. This time, he even asked questions during a live presentation on the Mission to Mars. We were impressed, to say the least. Then we headed down to Galveston and had a blast. We went to the beach, of course. We found some shells that still had crabs in them, but one was dead, so we pulled him out to keep his shell. We threw the other one back in the ocean. The boys had a good time playing in the sand. Lachlan wasn't all about the ocean unless someone was holding him, but Bennett put on a lifejacket and was happy to stay in the ocean all day. We took the boys to Moody Gardens, the Aquarium and the Rain Forest parts, plus we spent a day at their water park. So much fun and swimming, and Bennett came back with 2 ear infections (swimmer's ear).
