Another Bottom Tooth?!

Well, we thought the teeth came in 2 on the bottom, then 2 on the top, but we were surprised to find, after a few (try 5) sleepless nights, that Bennett has a 3rd bottom tooth. Only 20+ more to go! That is what we were dealing with most of Memorial Day weekend and are only now recovering sleep-wise. Still not crawling, but getting very close.

Bennett in the morning

Bennett is starting to get into everything, so it is time for dad to get started baby proofing. Every morning we put him on the vanity area floor while we get ready and is now opening and closing the drawers nearby. Enjoy.

B-B-B-Benny and his pets

Sung to the tune of Elton John's, or for the B-Boys Biz Markie's, Bennie and the Jets

Hey kid, you gotta lotta four legs
That big one is hoot
and known to bring the laughter
He'll catch and bite them all tonight, so stick around
You're gonna hear some crazy babblin', shakin' walls around

Say, Neppy and Penny have you seen them yet
Oh, but they're so scared to come around

B-B-B-Benny and his pets

(Sorry you all had to read through that. It's a game we play at home. Enjoy the video. Be sure to check out the end of the video, Bennett is going to be crawling soon.)

Bennett Brings the Astros Good Luck!

Getting ready to go, Bennett takes a twirl in the old rocking chair. I have to find the picture of myself in this chair 30+ years ago so I can see how much I look like my son.
Bennett's first ballgame couldn't have been on a nicer day, breezy and gorgeous...plus our seats were in the shade. Good planning, Dad.
Daddy was so proud to have his little man there. Bennett was on his best behavior!
Poor baby pooped out. He looks like an angel when he sleeps. Luckily, he woke up in time to see the Astros beat the Rangers, 5-4.

Swim Class #2 & Helping Around the House

Both Mom and Dad joined Bennett in the pool this week, so we don't have any live action shots. However, here is one just before he got in the pool. He did great again!
Then, on Sunday, Bennett wanted to help me with laundry, my takes-all-weekend chore. He loves getting into the hangers. I'm just glad we don't use wire ones, so I don't have to worry about him poking his eye out...or tetanus. Can't you just tell how devilish this child is from that grin?
Once Mom couldn't take the "help" anymore, Dad put Bennett in this box where he alternately chewed and then drummed on the side. Our little maniac!

By the way, save the date for Bennett's first birthday party. We're planning on having a small pool party at Grammy and PopPop's house Labor Day weekend--just family and close friends...(nothing like that huge shindig McKenna had!). We can't deal with the stress of a huge party because we'll be traveling down to Houston for the birth-day of baby Jonas, due mid-August.

Cloth Diapers

We've been using cloth diapers part-time (all the time, except daycare and traveling) for about a month now, and we really like it. We know we're helping the environment, and I love all the cool colors. I have to be careful not to break the bank shopping for cute diapers! It's quite addictive because there are forums where moms swap diapers, like ebay for cloth diapers. People still think we're crazy when we mention it, but most people don't know about all the cool diapers. They aren't like in the old days. We rarely have to swish a diaper in the tiolet (I think I've had to once because of my own stupidity, forgetting to put a liner in) and there are very few leaks, even at night. We're still learning what types of inserts work best with what diapers, and figuring out our preferences. I've bought tons of different brands. All in all though, it has been a very positive experience.

Bennett & Mommy

Trip to Houston

First, let me say that we figured out why Bennett wasn't sleeping well this past week--TWO TEETH! They are poking through on the bottom.

On the way to Houston, I had a great time taking pictures with my Mother's Day present, a new camera. Here is one of Bennett enjoying a piece of "toast" on the drive down. Yummy!

We stayed at Pappo's house, and Bennett loved getting all that attention.

Then we went to McKenna's first birthday party. In the crowd of people, we found Grammy who fed Bennett some kiwi the second his mommy turned her back! That Grammy!

On Sunday, Grammy fixed all the moms breakfast.

Bennett was pooped out and fell asleep eating a "cookie" on the drive back to Fort Worth. He proceeded to sleep 8 hours straight that night, and then wouldn't even wake up for daycare. He was a tired boy!

Swim Class

Bennett's first swim class. He didn't even cry! He got to spend time with his twin friends Julia and Daphne. Julia & Daphne's mommy works with Daddy.

Did ya'll see my Daddy's new tattoo?

Fun on the noodle. This was right after he took a dive forward on the noodle. No tears though.

Where's Mommy?

8 Months Old Today

This ball bopper is one of Bennett's favorite toys. He likes to turn it upside down in an effort to figure out how it works. What is funny is that this was his Aunt Rachael's toy 20+ years ago. He has one at daycare too, so I guess Playskool is still making them. Why mess with perfection?
This is a picture of Bennett in his jumperoo today. He grabbed onto the sides like he was about to really go for it, so I had to get a picture!

End of a Crazy Week

We've had colds all week, and Bennett hasn't been sleeping well. Last night he finally slept, thank goodness. Bennett starts swim lessons Saturday, so hopefully we'll get some pictures at that time.
